Technology

What Is Q-Restrain / SOT Therapy?

Q-Restrain, also known as Supportive Oligonucleotide Therapy (SOT), is a personalized, gene-targeted therapy used in integrative cancer support and complex chronic conditions. It is custom-created based on your own blood to target and disrupt the replication of circulating tumor cells, chronic infections, or other biologic targets identified in the body. The therapy is administered by IV as part of a personalized treatment plan.

Targeted Genetic Action

Q-Restrain uses short RNA sequences that bind to the genetic code of the targeted pathogen or tumor cell, preventing it from replicating.

Personalized at the Genetic Level

Each therapy is designed at RGCC, a specialized genetic laboratory, based on what is found in your blood. No two treatments are alike.

Continuous Action, Single Infusion

One IV infusion continues working for three to six months, gradually reducing the target burden over time.

Cancer Support

SOT for Integrative Cancer Support

Q-Restrain / SOT therapy may be used as part of a personalized integrative cancer support plan. The therapy is designed to target circulating tumor cells (CTCs) identified through specialized blood testing, with the goal of reducing the burden of these cells as part of a broader care strategy.

At Holistique, SOT for cancer support is provided as adjunctive care alongside conventional oncology treatment. It does not replace standard cancer treatment. Care is coordinated with your primary oncology team.

  • Circulating tumor cell (CTC) reduction as part of integrative cancer support
  • Adjunctive care alongside conventional oncology treatment
  • Supportive therapy for patients with a history of cancer seeking recurrence prevention
  • Immune system support during and after treatment

Dr. Nooshin K. Darvish earned a Fellowship in Adjunctive Cancer Therapies in 2010 and brings over 30 years of clinical experience in integrative medicine, including extensive work with patients navigating cancer and complex chronic conditions.

Conditions & Concerns

SOT for Chronic Infections and Immune Dysregulation

Q-Restrain / SOT therapy is also used in clinical settings where chronic infections or immune dysregulation are contributing to persistent symptoms or stalled recovery. It is particularly valuable for patients whose conditions have proven resistant to conventional antimicrobial or antiviral therapies.

The examples below reflect conditions where oligonucleotide therapy has been studied, applied clinically, or considered based on emerging research and clinical experience.

Tick-Borne Infections

  • Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi) and tick-borne co-infections
  • Post-Lyme syndrome and persistent symptoms following conventional treatment

Viral Infections

  • Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and post-viral syndromes
  • Herpes simplex viruses (HSV-1 and HSV-2)
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV)
  • Post-COVID / Long COVID symptoms
  • Other chronic viral infections

Immune & Complex Chronic Conditions

  • Chronic immune dysregulation
  • Complex chronic illness involving multiple overlapping infections
  • Conditions resistant to conventional antimicrobial therapies

Procedure

How Q-Restrain / SOT Works

  1. A blood sample is drawn from the patient and sent to RGCC, a specialized genetic laboratory, to identify the circulating pathogens, co-infections, or tumor cells present in the blood.

  2. The laboratory analyzes the genetic material of the target and designs a custom oligonucleotide, a short synthetic strand that precisely matches a critical gene sequence controlling the pathogen's replication or the tumor cell's survival.

  3. The personalized SOT molecule is created and shipped back to Holistique, where it is administered through an IV infusion. The infusion is performed under clinical observation.

  4. Once in the bloodstream, the SOT molecule circulates throughout the body, embedding into its target and disrupting the ability of the pathogen or abnormal cell to replicate. The molecule continues working for approximately three to six months after a single administration.

  5. Follow-up testing is recommended to evaluate the therapy’s effectiveness and determine whether additional rounds are appropriate. SOT may be repeated up to three times per year as needed.

FAQ

Common Questions About Q-Restrain / SOT Therapy

  • What conditions can SOT therapy address?

SOT therapy is used as adjunctive therapy in integrative cancer support to help reduce circulating tumor cells. It is also used for chronic infections including Lyme disease, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes simplex viruses, and other persistent pathogens. Each SOT molecule is custom-designed for the specific pathogen or abnormal cell identified in the patient's blood.

  • How is the SOT created?

A blood sample is drawn and sent to RGCC, a specialized genetic laboratory. The lab identifies the target pathogen or circulating tumor cells and designs a custom oligonucleotide that precisely matches the genetic sequence of the target. The completed SOT is then shipped back to Holistique for administration.

  • How is SOT administered?

SOT is delivered through a single intravenous infusion. Intravenous antihistamines and supportive medications may be given prior to the infusion to help minimize the chance of a reaction. The procedure is performed under clinical observation at Holistique.

  • How long does SOT remain active?

A single SOT infusion continues to work in the body for approximately three to six months, actively targeting the pathogen or abnormal cells during that time. Unlike daily medications that are quickly metabolized, SOT provides extended, continuous activity from a single administration.

  • How many treatments will I need?

Your physician will design a personalized plan based on your condition and response to therapy. SOT may be repeated up to three times per year. With each round, follow-up testing is recommended to assess pathogen or tumor cell levels and determine whether additional treatment is warranted.

  • What should I expect after treatment?

Some patients, particularly those with Lyme disease or other chronic infections, may experience a temporary increase in symptoms (sometimes called a Herxheimer or detox reaction) as pathogens are disrupted. This may include fatigue, body aches, or headaches. These reactions are generally temporary and can be managed with supportive care. Many patients notice gradual improvement over the weeks and months following treatment.

  • Is SOT therapy safe?

SOT therapy is designed to target only the specific pathogen or abnormal cells identified in your blood, which helps minimize systemic side effects. Allergic reactions are rare, and precautions are taken prior to each infusion. Each treatment is administered under clinical supervision by trained providers.

  • Can SOT be combined with other therapies?

Yes. At Holistique, SOT is often integrated with other therapies such as IV nutrient support, ozone therapy, detoxification protocols, and immune optimization to create a comprehensive treatment plan. This integrated approach supports the body's ability to respond to and recover from therapy.

  • Does insurance cover SOT therapy?

SOT therapy is a self-pay service. However, Holistique can provide a superbill upon request for patients who wish to submit for potential reimbursement through their insurance plan.
